Steady Wealth — literally Direct Wealth (正财, zhèng cái) — is the Ten God for the element your Day Master controls, in the opposite polarity. For a 甲 Day Master it is 己 (Jǐ, Yin Earth).

What you govern, directly: steady income and steady attachments.

Every Ten God is defined relative to the Day Master, the stem of your day of birth — that page explains the reference point; this one goes deeper on a single relation. The tables and the example below are computed at build time by the engine behind our free BaZi calculator, not written by hand.

Why is it called Direct Wealth?

Direct Wealth is the same element as Windfall in the opposite polarity: for a 甲 day, 己. 正 means upright, centred, and it marks the wealth you keep by tending — wages, or a trade practised for years. We call it Steady Wealth because steadiness is what separates it from its pair. It feeds Structure and checks Support, and the classical texts remark on both: steady earnings sit well with rules, and sit less easily with the part of a life that wants to be looked after.

Among the Ten Gods, Steady Wealth checks Support and feeds Structure; it is checked by Rival and fed by Edge. These follow from the same element cycles, in the same polarity, and hold for every Day Master.

How is Steady Wealth worked out?

Start from your Day Master’s element and find the element it controls in the controlling cycle. That element has a yang stem and a yin stem. The one whose polarity is opposite to your Day Master’s is Steady Wealth; the other is Windfall.

Count along the ten stems from the Day Master, counting it as the first, and Steady Wealth is the sixth stem for a yang Day Master but the fourth for a yin one. The stems alternate yang and yin, so a stem of the opposite polarity has no fixed distance.

A Ten God shows up in two places: as a visible stem on top of a pillar, and as a hidden stem stored inside a branch. The last column lists every branch that stores this stem and at which layer; the main qi counts for most. Hidden-stem tables follow our published conventions.

What does Steady Wealth look like in a real chart?

Take the chart we publish for Steve Jobs (1955–2011), cast by the same engine from the recorded birth time. The Day Master is 丙 (Bǐng, Yang Fire). Steady Wealth appears once: 辛 (Xīn, Yin Metal) hidden in the hour branch 酉, as its main qi. Against a Yang Fire Day Master, 辛 (Yin Metal) reads as Steady Wealth: Metal is controlled by Fire, one yang and one yin.

How do you read Steady Wealth?

Asked to gamble, some people feel a physical reluctance that has nothing to do with the odds. They are not cautious by conviction; the patient way simply feels like theirs. Steady Wealth describes that way of relating to what you can hold: kept by tending, grown by repetition. None of this is a forecast about money, and nothing here is financial advice. A chart with a clear Steady Wealth and a life spent chasing windows may account for a certain tiredness. The same chart in a life of slow accumulation may account for a certain calm. The chart can point at the fit and no further. If you have ever been told to take more risks and heard it as an accusation, it may be worth asking whether the advice was written for the other kind.

Steady Wealth and the other nine

Its pair is Windfall: the same element relation, the other polarity. The full set, in order:

Peer · Rival · Output · Edge · Windfall · Steady Wealth · Pressure · Structure · Insight · Support

All ten on one page: the Ten Gods. The reference point they are all measured from: the Day Master. To see where Steady Wealth sits in your own chart, use the free BaZi calculator — no account needed. Auspice is for reflection, not prediction.
